By the autumn of 1945, military veterans were returning home from overseas service in World War II. Many of the veterans who had returned to Jasper urged the VFW Department of Alabama to assist in the organization of a Post in Jasper. Department of Alabama Commander Joe Denaburg heeded these calls and assigned two World War II veterans, Raymond J. Isley and L.M. Martin, to organize a VFW Post in Jasper. On October 25, 1945, a meeting was held for overseas veterans of both World Wars at the USO Center on Third Avenue with goal of organizing a new Post.
